Audi e-tron Sportback Pros and Cons

  • profile photo of user Tomas Tomas

Audi e-tron Sportback 55 quattro - excellent Audi, outstanding electric vehicle (except for a few minor issues) 9.3

test drive of Audi e-tron Sportback 55 quattro 2020

    • highly efficient regenerative braking

    • outstanding interior soundproofing

    • excellent build quality of the entire vehicle

    • excellent charging speed (100 - 150 km in ten minutes using the powerful DC charger)

    • the chassis and electric drive wonderfully mask its high weight

    • very decent driving dynamics (safe overtaking)

    • card e-tron Charging Service with 200,000+ charge points throughout Europe

    • price comparable to similar combustion SUVs

    • powerful AC charger 11 kW as standard

    • haptic feedback in touch displays

    • plenty of head room in back despite the sloping roof

    • it has a frunk

    • automatic regenerative braking (its power is set based on the map)

    • quality sports seats (surcharge)

    • high weight, over 2.5 t

    • the drive “whistles” in the interior more audibly than usual among other EVs

    • air suspension could provide more glide

    • higher consumption - it’s a big SUV

    • the competitive Tesla X Long Range has far better acceleration (0-100 km/h in 3.9 s) and longer range

    • highway range (100 km more would be nice)

    • the Voice Assistant does not understand some common questions

    • high prices of optional equipment

Audi e-tron 55 quattro Sportback - great car, but that battery... 9.2

owner review of Audi e-tron Sportback S line 2020

    • cultivated electric drive

    • superb build quality

    • solid rear passenger seat even with my Sportback version with sloping roof

    • excellent cabin soundproofing from external noise

    • air suspension

    • price is comparable to similarly powerful combustion engine Audi SUVs

    • the front luggage compartment is not large, but is at least suitable for storing charging cables

    • highly efficient regenerative braking

    • excellent DC charging speed (I’m just afraid it’s at the expense of overall battery life)

    • exceptionally good driving dynamics

    • haptic feedback in touch displays

    • I suspect, supported by measurement, that the battery capacity was not 100% (86.5 kWh) when purchased, but slightly less (by about 5%)

    • high weight - over 2.5 tons

    • The Voice Assistant does not understand some common questions

    • uninspiring highway range (100 to 150 km more would be nice)

    • up to about 60 km/h you can hear the whistling sound of the engine or electronics (even during recovery)

    • for a really long trip, I would probably still take my combustion engine Passat (but otherwise I mostly buzz around in the e-tron)
